How You Can Make the Most Out of Niche Marketing

Finding your target market is essential if you want your business, no matter what it is that you do, to thrive and prosper. If you are in a specific genre, then you really need to know how to zero in and find those customers that want what you have; information, services or a particular product line. What you need to do is be able to find a way to tap into that target market.

One of the easiest ways of doing this by making sure you have the right keywords.

You can’t just pick a few keywords and hope that they will work, you will actually have to do some legwork to pick just the right ones. Think about the terms you would use if you were the customer looking for your specific product. This can be a lot of fun especially if you know that these words will get you results!

So, you need to ask yourself, “What is it that I would use to find this product or service?”. Then with that list of words you have come up with, you can then pare down what works and what doesn’t. You should also see how effective each keyword or phrase is going to be, and most marketing systems will show what the statistics are for each term.

If you want to do this on your own, use your keywords and find it’s most favorable equivalent. Figure out which of those terms or phrases receive the most hits. After you have picked what your primary keyword is going to be, you can then pick secondary phrases and terms that will help generate business. Because the internet is so vast, people are now getting very specific in their searches through the various search engines. This is so they can weed out all the improbable choices and get down to what they are looking for. An example of this is if a person was looking for the best tools to trim a cat’s claws, then they wouldn’t put in “pet grooming supplies”; they would search for “nail trimmer for cats”. If you are still having a challenge finding just the right keywords to reach your target market, then here are a few sites you can visit that will help you out!

1) Google Adwords. This is a great resource and has tons of information. Go to: adwords.Google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal Then you will be prompted to add your specific term or phrase and you will see how those words rank in all the keyword searches. You will also be able to see what your competitors are using and doing and how often those words were searched.

2) KeywordSpy.com. Another great resource that you can use to get a leg up on your competitors and it’s right at your fingertips! This site will give you a lot of ideas and should help you out quite a bit.

3) WordTracker. A very effective tool to have in your marketing tool bag since this site actually tracks (hence the name) all sorts of data for various keywords including predictions on how many times your keyword will be searched in the future! How cool it that?

4) KeywordDiscovery. This website is very close to WordTracker in the features and options it offers, but you if you want to use their services, you have to pay for it.

The next thing you need to figure out is, “What is happening now and what will happen in the future?”.

If you feel you have a great product or, you know what is going to happen with a product or service, then it is imperative that you find your target market. How awesome would it have been if you could have predicted or seen what was going to happen to Tiger Woods with his car accident and the subsequent media frenzy? You would be having a pretty good week.

If you want to learn more about how to analyze current market trends and what is expected in the future then you need to also use these next resources.

1) Google.com/trends. These webpages will show you what topics are being searched and how often on daily, weekly and monthly basis.

2) Pulse.ebay. eBay has become a great tool to use if you want to find out what is hot in the retail market. Another good idea is to check out the big box stores and get on their email list of the most wanted products.

3) Buzz.yahoo. Another great site since it uses the Yahoo! mainframe and gives you a clue as to what is being searched on any given day. Unfortunately, the Yahoo! buzz words seems more geared to what is happening in Hollywood than in the actual marketplace.

4) Springwise. This is a subscription newsletter that will tell what is popular, what is going up and what is going down.

5) Trendwatching. This is a service which will show up in your inbox and will show you exactly what is happening in the global marketplace so you can capitalize on the most current trends. Once you sign up, you will receive an email every month along with a year-end wrap up that will show what has happened in the marketplace.

6) Entrepreneur. This is a great tool to have because Entrepreneur is fairly accurate at predicting what is going to be hot in the coming year.

Use your Social Networking Websites!

Websites which feature social networks are also a great way in which you can predict what is going to be hot in the marketplace and could help you understand your potential target market. The easiest way to use this resource is by reading what people are blogging about, how many times someone wants information about a subject or item and if there is any controversy surrounding it. Sites like MySpace, Facebook and Twitter are perfect places for you to be able to get a pulse on what people want or would like to have.

Researching and then finding your target market is always going to be important if you want to stay current in business. Use all the available resources that you have at your fingertips to help you analyze and then jump on what is hot in the marketplace. By paying attention, you could be sitting on the next big “must-have” item and an even bigger income source!
